Worshipping with Pembina Parish
Attending a church for the first time can be intimidating, scary, and a bit confusing. So, here’s just a little snippet of what you can expect when attending a worship service at either St. Paul's or Zion-Calvin.
Our parish has two Sunday morning worship services: 9:30am at Zion-Calvin and 11:00am at St. Paul’s.
In Morden, St. Paul's is located right on the main highway, and the parking lot entrance is in the back. Feel free to stop in anytime, have a look around, chat with the greeters, and welcome yourself to some coffee and great conversation!
In Darlingford, you’ll hear the church bells ring out prior to the service, which means we're eager to get started! Kids flood in the doors, and family takes their seats getting ready for what this Sunday's service is all about.
In not only our daily lives, but our worship services as well, we will always seek to be inclusive, respectful, genuine and continuously curious about one another as children of God, the Bible, what it says and its interpretations, and how God is calling us every day to live as followers of Jesus in the world. Maintaining his commandment to "Love one another, as I have loved you"
In worship we:
Gather through the lighting of a Christ candle (Christ’s light with us) and a rainbow candle (a symbol of God’s inclusive love), the acknowledgement of treaty land, and a call to worship, prayer, and music.
Explore the Word of God through the reading of scripture, story time or exploration of our theme that engages the people in attendance, children and adults alike! A message that draws us into the story and helps us to implement that story into our every day life.
Respond to what we have seen and heard in worship and in our own lives through music, monthly celebration of communion and God’s inclusive welcome to the table including children! prayer, and a number of other activities.
Bless and send one another into the world to live as God’s beloved children, following in Jesus’ footsteps, encouraged and uplifted by the Holy Spirit.
Worship at both congregations is primarily led by the Minister and at St. Paul’s is supported by a different House Group each month. House Group members participate in setting up, greeting, announcements, scripture reading, preparation and serving of communion, gathering offerings, and whatever else we can think of that needs doing!
We are also fortunate to have a talented Choir Director, gifted Pianists, a Choir, a PowerPoint group, and a Sound group to support our worship and help make everything go smoothly, including accommodating any requests as needed!
We also have a wonderful caretaker who makes sure there's enough tables and chairs for everyone in attendance and cleans up after if needed as well.
Our staff and volunteers are the foundation of our Churches, and we would not be able to show God's love to the world without them!
